so today, i was at the grocery store with my mom, making a casual after-school trip to grab some food on the way to therapy. i was just gonna get some fuckin chocolate cake and some kombucha and whatever the fuck. so my mom and i are heading to the checkout and we pay for our stuff.

and see something brightly colored over at one of the other checkouts.

and you know what i see? do you know what my innocent tired eyes had to see?

i took my phone out and opened my camera as fast as i could, and took a picture as discreetly as i could manage. yes, the picture is blurry, so you may not be able to get a good look at what he’s wearing.

it’s this.

i saw this. my mother saw this.

this man was wearing this in a grocery store.

this is why we need to shame people for nasty shit when they’re young or they’re gonna end up doin this shit.

That’s gross. Nothing particularly sassy to say- just

That’s gross

For those of you who follow me and are confused as to why I’m not supporting this: it’s because this guy is going out into public spaces and exposing non-consenting people to these images. Satanism (whichever branch you believe) does not directly condem this, but I personally think that this infringes upon the eyes of children and non-consenting people. It is so close to showing porn to non-consenting individuals that it almost contradicts rule five of the eleven satanic rules of earth (“Do not make sexual advances unless you’re given the mating signal.”) although that is totally up for debate. I think sexual expression and expression in general is very important, but this isn’t the right way to go about it.

I don’t intend on arguing this further. Send me all the hate mail you want. That’s my opinion: take it or leave it. You are under no obligation to agree with me.

You don’t have to like antifa, but like I’ve literally seen people say that antifa are scum who should keep quiet and then turn around and say that nazis are bad, but they deserve the right to share their opinion.

How can you be more supportive of actual, literal fucking Nazis than antifacists???

absolutely nothing should be sold for a profit if its absence can kill you.

water shouldn’t be sold for a profit.

food shouldn’t be sold for a profit.

healthcare shouldn’t be sold for a profit.

any system where people can die because they’re unable to access these resources needs to be dismantled.

Ok so I really really want to agree with this but like I’m currently taking a pharmaceutical class and it’s tainted my view on this..see I agree people should have better access to health care and medications but like getting it for free worries me especially since this site talks so much about livable wages. What about the people who helped develope the medications and test it to prevent the highest risk margins to make sure it’s as safe as possible to use and what about the people who sell the medications and are required to be as educated as possible to ensure its safety? I am just literally begging someone to explain to me how this system could hypothetically be implemented so the little guys can receive fair payment

The same could be said for the individuals who farm the food we eat. Not to mention where do you draw the line for how much food you need? How do you define what foods could theoretically be a luxury item and what should be free? Would you then run into the issue of extreme class division due to what foods are free and what are not?

It’s great to think of the individuals who can’t afford these things, but we should also be thinking about the people who produce the goods we are using that are so vital to us.

Watch a documentary called “Fire in the Blood” (it’s on netflix) and then you can understand the true atrocities that pharmaceutical companies commit. You can also see how we can give people drugs and healthcare for free or at exceedingly reduced costs
I don’t mean to diss the opinion of @thefoxsaysmurder, because I agree that the workers should be taken into account and should never be ignored in these conversations. But the profit I think this person is referring is mainly obtained and kept by higher ups (CEO’s and the like). It’s not wrong for people to be paid for these things, but it is wrong for industries to make millions of dollars off the backs of it’s laborers while simultaneously exploiting the poor.

people seem to have trouble understanding why i’m an anti-capitalist, so i’m going to try and put it into simple, real-life terms.

i work at a restaurant. i make $12 an hour, plus tips. minimum wage where i live is relatively high for my country – the national minimum wage is $7.25/hr, and has not been raised since 2009. before taxes, working full time, my yearly income is about $22,000 a year. ($25,000 if you count tips)

at my job, we sell various dishes, with an average price of about $10-$15. we get printouts every week detailing how much money we made that week; in one week, our restaurant makes about $30,000. (one of our other locations actually makes this much on a daily basis!)

i’m not going to go into details, but after the costs of production

(payroll for employees, rent for the building, maintenance, and wholesale food purchasing) are accounted for, the restaurant makes an estimated profit of $20,000 per week.

this profit goes directly to the owner, who does not work at this location. the owner of my restaurant has actually been on vacation for a few months, but still profits from the restaurant, because they own it. i have met the owner exactly twice in my year of working here.

to put this into perspective, the owner of this restaurant earns in 2 days what they pay me in one year. and that’s just from this single location – the owner has several other restaurants, all of which make more money than the one i work at. this ends up resulting in the owner having an estimated net worth of tens of millions of dollars, even after accounting for the payroll for every single worker in their employ.

now, i have to ask you: does the owner of my restaurant deserve this income? did they earn it? did their labor result in this value being created?

the naive answer would be “yes”; the owner purchased the location and arranged for the raw ingredients to be delivered, did they not?

the actual answer is “no”. the owner may have used their initial capital to start the location, but the profit is a result of my labor, and the labor of my co-workers.

the owner purchases rice at a very low bulk price of about 25 cents a pound. i cook the rice, and within a few minutes, that pound of rice is suddenly worth about $30. the owner did not create this value, i did. the owner simply provided the initial capital investment required to start the process.

what needs to be understood here is that capitalists do not create value. they use the labor of their employees to create value, and then take the excess profit and keep it.

what needs to be understood is that capitalists accrue income by already HAVING money. the owner of my restaurant was only able to get this far because they started off, from the very beginning, with enough money to purchase a building, purchase food in bulk, and hire hundreds of employees.

that is to say: the rich get richer, and they do so by exploiting the labor of the poor.

the owner of my restaurant could afford to triple the income of every single person in their employee if they felt like it, but this would mean that they were generating less profit for themselves, so they do not.

the owner of my restaurant pays me the current minimum wage of my area, because to them, i am not a person. i am an investment. i am an asset. i am a means to create more money.

when you are paid minimum wage, the message your boss is sending you is this: “legally, if i could pay you less, i would.”

every capitalist on the planet exploits their workers for their own gain. every capitalist, even the small business owners, forces people to stay in poverty so that the capitalist can profit.

See the difference between you and me is you stand there and bitch about it i find a way to capitalize on it thats you’ll always be working for guys like me because like your boss i know how to pull myself up you just sit there and cry unfair if you dont try you dont suceed thats why by the age of 16 i was a millionaire by nineteen i was a billionaire point being shut the fuck up and do something about your situation and quit crying about how self made men and women owe you somthing we dont owe you shit we made our own way never satisfied with wat was always finding new ways in wich we could be better thats why we as in what you call the 1% are where we are we worked hard for it we took risks had alot of sleepless nights STOP BITCHING AND PULL YOURSELF OUT OF THE GUTTER OR SHUT THE FUCK UP

I can’t decide if this is r/thathappened or r/nobodyasked
